Avoiding the rocks: The role of the board in managing corporate reputation
Jonathan Harper (Spencer Stuart) and Susan Gilchrist (Brunswick)
March 2009
As the economic crisis deepened towards the end of 2008, Spencer Stuart and Brunswick joined forces on a research project to explore the impact of the economic downturn on attitudes to corporate reputation. Over a three-month period we interviewed 20 board chairmen and corporate affairs directors of leading FTSE companies to gain a variety of board and executive-level perspectives on these and other questions relating to reputation management and the evolving role of corporate affairs.
