Phil Johnston combines more than 15 years of executive search experience with 20 years of technology and life sciences industry experience. He has conducted more than 100 board, CEO and CEO succession assignments for global life sciences and technology companies. He is also a member of Executive Assessment Services and is a human resources functional expert. He currently manages Spencer Stuart’s Singapore office and previously ran the Western U.S. business for the firm.
Previously, he served as the top human resources executive for two companies which were acquired by Lucent: Mosaix, a CRM company, and Octel Communications, the global leader in voice processing. He also served as vice president for Teknekron, a technology incubator, and served on the boards of portfolio companies, including TIBCO. He began his career in human resources for American Hospital Supply Corporation (now Baxter).
He has researched and written articles on best practices in corporate governance and has spoken at numerous conferences on governance and leadership topics. He has served on a number of public, private and nonprofit boards.
Phil received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology (magna cum laude) and a master's in industrial relations, Carlson School of Management, both from the University of Minnesota. He and his wife Leslie, reside in Singapore.
