Kim McKesson brings more than 20 years of leading-edge experience across all facets of retail to her role as a consultant in Spencer Stuart's Consumer Goods & Services and global Retail, Apparel & Luxury Goods practices. Her primary focus is on assignments for senior-level executives across all retail functions and channels.
Before joining Spencer Stuart, Kim was the executive vice president, chief marketing and merchandising officer for Smith & Hawken, a multichannel specialty retailer of aspirational outdoor living and gardening products.
Prior to Smith & Hawken, Kim enjoyed a nearly 20-year career at The Home Depot, culminating in her role as senior vice president of store merchandising for the $80 billion, 2000-store chain. In that position, Kim was responsible for a team of 160 and led store planning, visual merchandising, in-store environment, and all new retail concept and format development. She was also responsible for the allocation and project management of all capital investment in merchandising upgrades in over 1800 U.S. stores. Previously, as merchandising vice president, Kim had general management responsibility over more than 20 merchandising categories, each generating approximately $1 billion in revenue. These roles included responsibility for sourcing, assortment planning, product design and development, marketing direction, financial analysis and optimization, and supply chain and logistics management. She worked with foreign sourcing from countries that include Germany, Poland, Portugal, Mexico, Indonesia, India and China.
Drawing on her extensive experience in strategic planning, leadership development and talent management, Kim has been a featured speaker at numerous retail events and conferences, including the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council Executive Program affiliated with The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, and the Retail and Luxury Goods Conference at Harvard Business School.
Kim holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Pepperdine University.
