Based in London, Hugh Thorneycroft is a member of Spencer Stuart’s Industrial Practice and conducts search assignments for general management and senior-level functional leadership roles for companies in the oil and gas, utilities, renewable energy and infrastructure sectors.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Hugh spent seven years with ICI Chemicals & Polymers, working in a series of international sales and marketing roles. This was followed by a three-year assignment to ICI Australia (now Orica Pty) in Melbourne, where Hugh was business manager and responsible for the industrial markets business of the Orica Chemnet division, and for Stelco, the dry cleaning chemical supplies business.
After leaving Australia to study in Switzerland, Hugh joined Marakon Associates, the strategy consultancy, for seven years, working for clients across Europe in the fmcg, financial services, telecoms, healthcare and energy sectors. The projects were grounded in “value-based management” disciplines and covered portfolio and business unit strategy, business planning, performance management, channel management, shared services, investor relations and organisation design.
Hugh graduated with honours from Durham University with a degree in history and earned an M.B.A. at IMD, the International Institute for Management Development, Switzerland. Hugh is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
