Malini Vaidya is based in the Singapore office of Spencer Stuart and leads the firm’s Consumer Goods & Services Practice for the Asia Pacific region. She also plays an active role in developing the firm’s Financial Services Practice’s search initiatives throughout Southeast Asia. In addition, she is experienced and knowledgeable in India’s marketplace and works with Spencer Stuart’s office in India to address growing leadership needs in the country. Malini specializes in executive search, management appraisal and board-related work, advising clients across Asia on broad senior management issues.
Previously, Malini was a consultant in the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur offices of another international executive search firm. There, she played a key role in driving the firm’s Malaysian practice, led the financial services practice group for Southeast Asia, and co-led the firm’s efforts in the consumer goods and services industry within the region. She advised clients across Asia in a diverse group of industries in addition to financial services and consumer products, including telecommunications, media and transportation & logistics. Beyond executive search, she worked with clients on board director appointments and senior executive management assessments. Prior to moving to Singapore in 2001, Malini was based in India, where she conducted cross-border search assignments in the financial, media and telecommunications sectors.
Prior to her career in executive search, Malini served as the India head of business development for cash management services in the corporate financial services group of ANZ Grindlays Bank. Prior to that role, she was a senior deal and relationship originator within the corporate and investment banking groups of the ANZ Bank in the U.S. and India, focusing on the media and financial services industries. Malini also served as strategic adviser within ANZ Grindlays as a member of the core McKinsey–Grindlays team.
Malini holds an honours bachelor’s degree in economics from St. Xavier’s College at Bombay University, and master’s degrees in finance and in economics from Northeastern University in Boston. Malini is a citizen of Singapore and has previously lived and worked in both India and the United States.
