Leopoldo (Leo) Cortes is a member of Spencer Stuart's Madrid office and serves clients in the Financial Services, Technology, Communications & Media and Industrial practices with both a domestic and European scope.
Leo started his career with Spencer Stuart as an associate in 1999 and was promoted to senior associate in 2002. Since then, he has been involved in more than 100 assignments with a focus on the financial services and technology sectors.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Leo developed his career in Recoletos Compañía Editorial, a leading Spanish media company which is a subsidiary of Pearson. There, he led the research and development area, a role focused on launching new products and services for the company. Previously, he spent three years as editor in chief of one of its publications and, during this time, was responsible for the daily run of operations (deadlines, layout, staffing, etc.) and a team of 30 reporting directly to him. During his early years in Recoletos, he worked in London for two years as a correspondent covering U.K. financial markets and a variety of corporate and financial institutions. That also gave him exposure to some of the top professionals in financial journalism in London.
He has a degree in information sciences from Universidad of Navarra and completed postgraduate studies at IESE, a Spanish business school.
