Will Schutte manages Spencer Stuart’s San Francisco office and is a key member of the Technology Communications & Media Practice, with expertise in digital media, mobile, eCommerce, broadcast and publishing as well as digital marketing services. Previously, Will served as the firm’s global media practice leader.
Will combines over a decade of executive search experience at Spencer Stuart with more than two decades of media industry operating experience. He has conducted senior executive level assignments for well-established media companies as well as venture and private equity-backed enterprises, specializing in recruiting transformational leaders across the continuum of large, global media operators to earlier stage digital, mobile and social media enterprises. With a sub-specialty in public media recruiting, Will is also a member of the firm’s Education, Nonprofit & Government practice.
Over the course of his career at Spencer Stuart, Will has focused on CEO, COO and other C-suite assignments, including senior executive sales, strategy, marketing and product development roles. Will has twice won the firm’s Lou Rieger Quality Award in recognition of his consistently high level of quality work and client service.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Will was a vice president and general manager within the broadcast division of CBS. Earlier in his career, he was a partner in a private equity-backed local media business. In addition to general management, business development and revenue leadership roles in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles, Will worked in account management at J. Walter Thompson Advertising in New York. Will, his wife, Suzanne, and children reside in San Francisco. Will earned his B.A. degree in American Studies from the University of California at Berkeley.
